Bats of Comal

November 12 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Bats have been on Earth for more than 50 million years. With more than 1,400 species, they are the second largest order of mammals. Come learn how bats play a substantial ecological role that is vital to the health of our natural ecosystem and human economies. Also learn about the threats bats are facing and what you can do to help.

Our speaker is Krystie Miners, the Project Coordinator for Bracken Cave Preserve. She has been working with bats since 2024. Bracken Cave is the summer home of more than 20 million Mexican Free-tailed Bats, making it the world’s largest bat colony and one of the largest concentrations of mammals on Earth.
